
Heavy Equipment Training School Kamloops - HEO or also known as the heavy equipment operator courses would provide you with the skills and knowledge required in order to enter the workforce as an entry level heavy machine operator. In this 12 week course along with a practicum, you will focus on jobsite fundamentals including: health, environmental and safety training and awareness, machinery operation and maintenance, and use of earth moving techniques in hands-on conditions.
Operator training will help those work with their selected heavy machine like a compactor, grader, loader, a dozer and an excavator. The essential skills that an operator will need to work with heavy machines comprises: excellent oral communication skills, excellent problem solving skills, physical strength and stamina, excellent spatial ability and good vision, the ability to work well with others in a team or alone and good eye-hand coordination along with excellent manual dexterity.
Some technical skills are likewise necessary. These are having a general mechanical ability, being able to operate equipment and power tools, knowledge of safe working procedures, the ability to follow grade plans, technical specifications and read directions, the ability to make mathematical calculations and basic measurements, and the ability to perform basic maintenance and mechanical repairs.
